Of these, around 4.6 million were first doses and around 4.2 million second doses; 420,000 people received the third dose, according to Health Ministry's Secretary-General of Epidemiological Affairs Adel Al-Balbisi.

Balbisi said that 71 percent of the population was given the first dose, and 65 percent received the two doses.

Since the announcement of the Defense Order 35 on November 25, 2021, 474,647 first vaccine doses have been given, while second vaccine doses reached 508,680 doses.

The new defense order stipulates that neither public sector nor private sector employees may be allowed to work unless they receive both doses of vaccine and that the days in which they do not work because they are not vaccinated will be deducted from their annual leave balance.

No person over 18 is allowed to enter the premises of ministries, government departments, public institutions, or any private sector facility unless he/she has received two doses of the vaccine. Exception make those who visit hospitals and health centers for emergencies.
