King Abdullah II received Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali, chairman of Oman's Shura Council, and an accompanying delegation on Tuesday, with Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II in attendance.

Talks covered regional developments and the need to reduce tensions and safeguard the security and sovereignty of Arab states. The King described relations between Jordan and Oman as close and affirmed a commitment to strengthening them.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi attended, along with Director of the King's Office Alaa Batayneh, House Speaker Mazen Qadi and Oman's ambassador to Jordan, Sheikh Fahd Al-Ojaili.
Al Maawali's visit is an official one focused on parliamentary and economic cooperation. He held separate talks with Qadi the same day, where both described the relationship as long established and stressed the value of coordinating positions in regional and international forums.
