King, WFP chief discuss ways to sustain aid delivery to Gaza

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah, on Sunday at Al-Husseiniya Palace, met with World Food Program (WFP) Executive Director Cindy H. McCain to discuss the necessity of sustaining the delivery of urgent food and humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, according to a Royal Court statement. اضافة اعلان

King Abdullah stressed the importance of the role of international organizations such as the WFP in urging the international community to step up its efforts to ensure the delivery of food, water, medicine, and fuel to Gaza, calling for safeguarding medical and relief infrastructure in the strip.

During the meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, His Majesty praised the WFP’s role in working to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, noting Jordan’s continued efforts to provide relief, medical, and humanitarian assistance to the strip.


The meeting also covered the partnership between Jordan and the WFP and ways to strengthen it, especially in facing the challenges of food insecurity among refugees and host communities.

For her part, WFP Executive Director McCain expressed her appreciation of WFP’s decades-long partnership with Jordan and the important role the Kingdom plays in safeguarding regional stability and facilitating vital assistance to Gaza.

She stressed the importance of the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure and the continued and sustained flow of supplies of food, medicine, and emergency assistance into the Gaza Strip.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan attended the meeting.
