Majed Sumairat, Chairman of the Jordan Insurance Federation, formally received the presidency from Nasser bin Salem Al Busaidi, Chairman of the Oman Insurance Association.

In his opening remarks, Sumairat said the future of the Arab insurance industry requires greater cooperation and integration among markets, investment in knowledge and expertise, and the development of legislation and insurance products to strengthen the sector’s ability to address emerging risks and rapid changes.

He expressed hope that the conference would help build sustainable and practical partnerships, deliver workable solutions, and launch initiatives that serve the Arab insurance industry. He said Jordan’s selection to host the event, along with the participation of representatives from various insurance markets, reflects confidence in the Kingdom and its standing.

Sumairat noted that the conference’s theme, “Insurance: Back to Basics,” calls for moving confidently toward the future while maintaining the professional foundations on which the industry was built and balancing the development of tools and practices with the protection of policyholders’ rights.

During the handover ceremony, Jordan Insurance Federation Chief Executive Officer Moayad Al-Kloub said the transfer of the presidency to Jordan represents both a mandate and a responsibility to serve joint Arab insurance efforts. He expressed confidence in Sumairat and the Jordanian market’s ability to make a meaningful contribution and build on previous achievements.

Al-Kloub thanked Al Busaidi and the Omani insurance market for assuming the presidency and said the federation looks forward to building on the union’s achievements, including the Orange Card system and agreements among Arab countries, while further developing cooperation and strengthening the sustainability of joint efforts.

He also praised the efforts of former presidents, board members and staff of the Jordan Insurance Federation, stressing the importance of continuing the union’s progress and building on its achievements.

The handover ceremony featured a film symbolizing the transfer of the insurance torch from Oman to Jordan. The conference’s Supreme Organizing Committee also honored Al Busaidi in recognition of his efforts during the past two years.

The conference is being held under royal patronage from October 4 to 7, 2026, at the King Hussein bin Talal Convention Centre. It is attended by 2,155 participants from 48 countries and is organized by the Arab Insurance General Union and the Jordan Insurance Federation.
