Jordan’s Public Security Directorate launched its annual winter traffic campaign on Sunday to check the technical safety of vehicles, ensure they are fit for safe travel during the winter season, and help reduce road accidents.
The campaign aims to protect the lives of citizens and road users and provide a safer traffic environment.
The campaign is being carried out by the traffic departments and the Royal Department for Environmental Protection, with the participation of technical teams from the Maintenance Department.
The teams will inspect vehicles to assess their readiness and technical condition for road use during winter and their ability to cope with unusual weather conditions.
The campaign includes checking key vehicle components, including tires, lights, windows, windshield wipers and engine coolant.
Authorities will also check heating systems in public transportation vehicles, as well as other components to ensure they are safe and that there are no deficiencies that could affect vehicle safety or the safety of road users during winter.
If a technical defect is found that affects the vehicle’s safety, the owner will be issued a notice without a traffic violation ticket and given one week to correct the technical problems and complete any safety-related requirements.
The Public Security Directorate called on citizens to cooperate with its personnel, follow safety instructions and carry out the necessary maintenance on their vehicles to protect themselves and others.
