The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in Jordan recently published its statistical report for the fourth quarter of 2024 on its website, highlighting significant trends in the communications sector.

The report noted that the total number of mobile broadband subscriptions reached 8.046 million, compared to approximately 7.727 million in the fourth quarter of 2023, marking a growth rate of 4.1%. These subscriptions are divided into 69% prepaid and 31% postpaid plans.
It was also reported that 84% of subscriptions were for both voice and data services, while 16% were for data-only services. The total volume of mobile voice calls reached approximately 7.37 billion minutes, with 97% of these calls being domestic and 3% international.
In terms of text messaging, the number of text messages sent in the first quarter of 2025 reached 576 million, a significant increase from 260 million messages in the same period of 2024, reflecting a growth rate of 122%.
As for mobile phone subscriptions, the penetration rate reached 69% of the total population by the end of the fourth quarter of 2024, compared to 67% in the same period of 2023. The penetration rate was 106% when calculated based on the population over the age of 15.
Additionally, mobile data usage in the fourth quarter of 2024 reached 658 million gigabytes, up from 580 million gigabytes in the fourth quarter of 2023, reflecting a growth rate of 13%.
