The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) in Irbid Governorate revealed the closure of 15 establishments during the first quarter of the current year 2026 due to their lack of basic requirements. It also temporarily suspended 65 others from operating to rectify their status and referred 12 violating establishments to the Attorney General for deterrent legal action.

This came as part of an extensive regulatory effort, during which 7,312 inspection visits were conducted across various establishments in the governorate, according to the Al-Rai daily newspaper.
The JFDA is intensifying its inspection tours and daily monitoring of food and drug establishments in Irbid Governorate to ensure the highest standards of safety and public health for citizens.
These campaigns are part of a comprehensive field plan implemented by specialized inspection teams from the administration's branch in the governorate, aiming to verify that goods and products comply with approved health requirements and are free from any defects or violations that could impact consumer health.
The JFDA confirmed that its inspection and monitoring personnel in the Irbid branch regularly follow up on all received complaints and execute monitoring programs and investigation orders with extreme accuracy.
The administration pointed out that its efforts are not limited to regulation alone, but also extend to launching ongoing awareness and educational campaigns targeting both citizens and business owners to reinforce correct health concepts and prevent violations.
