The court amended the legal description of the crime from premeditated murder to intentional murder, before sentencing the defendant to 20 years of imprisonment.

The defendant had stabbed his sister five times, causing her death. Consequently, the Attorney General initially charged him with premeditated murder before the charge was amended during the trial stages.

The details of the case date back to the end of January of this year, when it was announced that lawyer Zeina Al-Majali had been stabbed to death by her brother.

The family had filed a civil lawsuit (personal claim) against their drug-addicted son accused of killing his sister, demanding the full application of the law against him without leniency in the case that carried the name of the young lawyer, "Zeina Al-Majali."
