The Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced that it has officially responded to a letter sent by the Speaker of the House of Representatives on July 14, 2026. The letter informed the IEC of a vacant seat in the Aqaba local electoral district, previously held by Mr. Hasan Salah Al-Riyati, following a final judicial ruling sentencing him to two years in prison. Consequently, under Article (75) of the Constitution, his membership is revoked and his seat becomes vacant, as reaffirmed by Article (10) of the Election Law.

In its response, the IEC declared Mr. Baker Yahya Mohammad Al-Kasasbeh—who ran for the Islamic Action Front party (currently the Ummah Party) within the Islamic Action Front list in the Aqaba local electoral district—as the successor to Mr. Hasan Al-Riyati, having secured the next highest number of votes on the same list. This decision was made in accordance with Article (57/A) of the House of Representatives Election Law No. (4) of 2022 and its amendments.
