The House of Representatives will vote on Thursday on the draft General Budget Law for the fiscal year 2026, article by article, in accordance with the Constitution.
After the draft law is approved, the Finance Committee in the Senate will begin discussing the “2026 Budget” and will submit its recommendations to the Senate for approval. It will then be endorsed by Royal Decree and published in the Official Gazette.
The House of Representatives began debating the “General Budget” on Monday during a morning session chaired by Speaker Mazen Al-Qadi, attended by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan and members of the government team. During the session, MPs listened to the report of the Parliamentary Finance Committee on the 2026 General Budget Law, delivered by the committee’s rapporteur, MP Mohammad Al-Bustanji.
The Parliamentary Finance Committee had approved the draft General Budget Law for the fiscal year 2026 on December 7, 2025, after holding 104 meetings over the span of 13 days.
On November 11, 2025, the House had referred the draft General Budget Law for the fiscal year 2026 to its Finance Committee, which discussed it with ministries, units, and government institutions.
It is noteworthy that the Council of Ministers had approved the draft budget law on November 5, 2025, during a session chaired by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, in preparation for proceeding with the required constitutional steps.
