The House of Representatives will continue on Wednesday its discussions on the draft General Budget Law for the fiscal year 2026.
The chamber began debating the “General Budget” on Monday, during a morning session chaired by Speaker Mazen Al-Qadi and attended by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan along with members of the government team. During the session, lawmakers heard the report of the Parliamentary Finance Committee on the draft budget for 2026, presented by the committee’s rapporteur, MP Mohammad Al-Bustangi.

The Parliamentary Finance Committee had endorsed the draft General Budget Law for 2026 on December 7, 2025, following 104 meetings it held over 13 days.
On November 11, 2025, the House referred the draft budget to its Finance Committee, which subsequently held discussions with ministries, units, and government institutions.
It is noteworthy that the Cabinet had approved the draft budget on November 5, 2025, during a session chaired by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, in preparation for completing its constitutional procedures and submitting it to the National Assembly.
