The House of Representatives continued on Tuesday its deliberations on the draft General Budget Law for the fiscal year 2026.

The chamber had begun discussions on Monday, during a morning session chaired by Speaker Mazen Al-Qadi and attended by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan and members of the government team. Lawmakers heard the report of the Parliamentary Financial Committee on the 2026 draft budget, delivered by the committee’s rapporteur, MP Mohammed Al-Bustanji.اضافة اعلان

Chairman of the Financial Committee, Nimer Al-Sleihat, said the committee presented an analysis that would enable MPs to make an informed decision regarding the 2026 budget. He added that the draft law was submitted early to allow for better use of time and provide room to improve government performance indicators.

Al-Sleihat explained, during the first sessions of the 2026 budget discussions, that the committee had examined all aspects of the budget, including the decisions that influenced it, the economic sectors, and the key features of the Economic Modernization Vision. He noted that the committee presented analytical outcomes to assist MPs in making their decision on the draft law.

The Parliamentary Financial Committee had approved the 2026 draft budget on December 7, 2025, after holding 104 meetings over the course of 13 days.

On November 11, 2025, the House of Representatives referred the draft General Budget Law for the fiscal year 2026 to its Financial Committee, which subsequently discussed it with ministries, units, and government institutions.

It is noted that the Council of Ministers had endorsed the draft budget on November 5, 2025, during a session chaired by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, ahead of proceeding with constitutional procedures and submitting it to the National Assembly.
