The Executive Director of Neighborhood Development and Tourist Routes Projects, Eng. Mohammad Abu Zaytoun, confirmed that the municipality has started expanding Al-Jaish Street and adding a new fourth lane aimed at improving traffic flow and upgrading the area’s infrastructure.
Abu Zaytoun noted that the municipality plans to demolish several of its own buildings located within the new lane’s path, in coordination with the relevant authorities, and will take the necessary supervisory and safety measures during the demolition works to ensure public safety.
He explained that the project aims to establish new infrastructure, enhance traffic conditions, and develop sidewalks, pedestrian walkways, and landscaping works, in addition to constructing pedestrian bridges to provide better services for residents and visitors of the area.
This project comes within GAM’s comprehensive plan to develop Amman’s old neighborhoods, in line with its 2022–2026 strategic plan, which focuses on improving public services, enhancing sustainability, and utilizing technology to achieve the municipality’s vision of transforming Amman into a smart city.
