Geologists Syndicate releases statement on mining in Dana

AMMAN — The head of the Jordanian Geologists Syndicate, Sakhr Al-Nesour, stressed the importance of investing in copper mining to contribute to economic growth and comprehensive development in the southern regions of the Kingdom.اضافة اعلان

He said in a press statement released on Wednesday that the union has for years been calling for the government to explore the feasibility of mining copper in the area of Dana.

Ministers have previously supported amending the borders of the Dana Nature Reserve for the purpose of investing in copper mining, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

He stressed that all the geological studies carried out by the Natural Resources Authority and with the participation of German and French foreign missions confirmed the presence of concentrations of copper.
