EU-funded program closes, EU reiterates support for Jordan

Press Release — Under the patronage of EU Ambassador Maria Hadjitheodosiou, the “Support to the Rule of Law” Program held its closing ceremony with the attendance of representatives from the justice sector, and the national and international stakeholders supporting it.اضافة اعلان



The program said in a press release that it has supported the justice sector in helping “expand automation and digital transformation through electronic interconnection between the Ministry of Justice and Public Security Development, the automation of legal aid services, enhancing access to justice and the efficiency and effectiveness of community sanctions”.



The program also helped to advance the judicial infrastructure by improving the quality of services to the public.



In her speech, ambassador Hadjitheodosiou reiterated that the EU is committed to “continue supporting Jordan and its various institutions in enhancing the areas of justice and rule of law, and underlined the contribution they have made in the process for political modernization and the implementation of the economic vision”.



The envoy presented the achievements of the “Rule of Law” Program, such as enhancing the independence of the judiciary, supporting the administrative independence of the judicial council, providing technical support for the development of the Justice Sector Strategy.

The EU-funded “Support to the Rule of Law” Program was implemented by the French Agency for Development and Cooperation, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and the Spanish Agency for Development Cooperation, in addition to technical support from Expertise France, DMI Associates, the Spanish Bar Council and the German Agency for Cooperation and Development.
