AMMAN — The Jordan Basketball Federation (JBF) will formally respond in the next two days to the Arab Basketball Federation’s request that Jordan host the Arab Championship for men.اضافة اعلان

“This is a good opportunity to prepare the national team before Jordan Hawks launches into the Asian playoffs that qualifies for the 2023 World Cup finals. Our agreement to host the tournament doesn’t mean we want to win the title,” JBF President Mohamed Alayyan said in an interview with Jordan News.

He added: “The vast majority of our key players are professionals abroad. Today, we are thinking very seriously about participating with the Olympic team in the Arab tournament to raise the level of young players, which would technically benefit the performance of the national team in general.”

When asked about the player who will be granted the Jordanian nationality to represent the first national basketball team in future playoffs or international tournaments, he replied: “There are 3 names that are being discussed with the technical department, and the player who fits into our playing style and adds the wanted value to our team, will be revealed over the next week.”

Should the Arab Basketball Federation decide to go ahead with allowing Jordan to host the championship, it will take place at the end of October.

The championship will serve as a preparatory event for the ‘Jordan Hawks’ as they will be starting their run with the Asian playoffs that will qualify to the world cup finals by facing the Saudi team on Friday, November 26.
