Barcelona began their defense of the Women’s Champions League title with a commanding 5-2 home victory over French side Paris FC on Wednesday.
Paris FC took an early lead through Evelyn Viens after five minutes at the Johan Cruyff Stadium at the Joan Gamper Sports City, but the visitors were unable to hold on to their advantage.

The European champions quickly leveled through Brazilian forward Caroline in the 18th minute, before Clara Serrajordi, Ewa Pajor and Caroline Graham Hansen added three more goals in the 28th, 35th and 43rd minutes to give Barcelona a 4-1 lead at halftime.
Pajor scored her second goal and Barcelona’s fifth in the 70th minute, while Paris FC pulled one back through Clara Mateo three minutes later.
In another match played at the same time, Chelsea secured a 1-0 home victory over Austria Wien, with Wieke Kaptein scoring the only goal in the 11th minute.
Earlier on Wednesday, French side Olympique Lyonnais thrashed Swiss hosts Servette 8-0, while Italian club Roma drew 0-0 away to Belgian side Leuven.
The Women’s Champions League competition began on Tuesday, with Bayern Munich drawing 2-2 with Manchester City. Inter Milan edged Swedish side Häcken 1-0, while Arsenal also recorded a 1-0 victory over Danish club KØGE.
Benfica of Portugal also defeated Italian side Juventus 2-1 away from home.
The league phase, now in its second year, features 18 teams competing across six rounds. The top four clubs will qualify directly for the quarterfinals, while teams finishing from fifth to 12th will contest knockout play-offs in February.
The six league-phase rounds will run from September 22 through December 16, with the tournament final scheduled to take place at the National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland, in late May.
