Spain, Jordan in negotiations to arrange friendly before World Cup

AMMAN — The Royal Spanish Football Federation began negotiations with their Jordanian counterpart seeking to arrange a friendly match prior to the 2022 World Cup playoff, in Qatar, Ammon News reported. According to Marca, a Spanish newspaper, the negotiations remain under way to play the match in Asia, however, no country has been set. World Cup regulations allow for the teams to play in Qatar starting from when the delegations arrive and till five days before the first World Cup game. The Spanish federation suggested traveling directly to Doha, so the match can be played someday between November 16 and 18. While it will not be possible to play the friendly at a World Cup stadium, Marca newspaper noted another possibility, which is for Spain to play Jordan in Amman or Abu Dhabi.
