Moroccan international Ismael Sabiri, who plays for Bayern Munich, drew attention during the annual photo session organized by the Bavarian club ahead of one of the region's traditional annual festivals.

Sabiri (25) appeared in photos circulating on social media wearing traditional dress alongside his teammates, but unlike most of the other players, he was not seen holding a beer mug.
The Moroccan player's gesture drew significant attention from social media users, who widely shared his photos and praised his choice not to hold the mug during the photo session.
German outlet tz confirmed that Sabiri deliberately avoided holding the alcoholic drink, in keeping with Islamic teachings that prohibit consuming such beverages.
Sabiri was not the only Bayern Munich player to appear this way — his teammates, Frenchman Michael Olise and Aleksandar (Arigot) Ibrahimović, took the same stance during the photo session.
This is not the first time Bayern Munich players have avoided holding alcoholic drinks in photos for this occasion — Moroccan Noussair Mazraoui, Frenchman Franck Ribery, and Senegalese Sadio Mane have previously done the same for religious reasons.
Sabiri, who joined Bayern Munich this summer transfer window from PSV Eindhoven in a deal worth €50 million, did not hide his enthusiasm for learning about the city's culture and taking part in the festival's events.
Speaking to Bayern Munich's official website, Sabiri said: "It's the first time I've worn this beautiful traditional outfit with lederhosen."
He added: "I'm really looking forward to visiting the Wiesn festival with the whole team. Something that really matters to me is that I genuinely want to get to know the culture of the city and country where I play football."
Since joining the Bavarian side, Sabiri has featured in only one official match — which was also the only official match Bayern Munich have played so far this season: the German Super Cup against Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park, which ended in a 2-1 win for Bayern and the title.
Bayern Munich begin their title defense in the German league tomorrow, Friday, hosting Stuttgart at the Allianz Arena in the opening round of the 2026–2027 season, in a match kicking off at 9:30 p.m. Mecca/Doha time.
