Belgian international striker Romelu Lukaku is arriving in Istanbul to complete his transfer to Turkish football club Fenerbahçe from Italy's Napoli.

Fenerbahçe announced late Wednesday on its account on the American platform "X" that Lukaku would arrive at the general aviation terminal of Sabiha Gökçen Airport in Istanbul at 22:00 local time (19:00 GMT), ahead of joining the team.

In a video clip published by the Turkish club, Lukaku stated: "It is a great honor for me to be part of this club with such a rich history. We have a great team, and I will try to help by working hard every day and giving my best."

For its part, Napoli officially announced Lukaku's permanent transfer to Fenerbahçe, stating in a release: "Società Sportiva Calcio Napoli announces that it has permanently sold player Romelu Lukaku Bolingoli to Fenerbahçe Sports Club."

The 33-year-old Lukaku joined Napoli in the summer of 2024, making 45 appearances across all competitions and scoring 15 goals—including a crucial strike against Cagliari following a powerful run, which contributed to securing the club's fourth Serie A title in its history.

The Belgian forward was limited to just 7 appearances last season due to a left thigh injury, scoring one goal, before rediscovering his form upon returning to fitness—scoring 3 goals and providing one assist in 6 matches with his national team during the 2026 World Cup.

Fenerbahçe is relying on Lukaku's experience and goal-scoring abilities to bolster its attacking line and mount a strong challenge for domestic and continental trophies in the new season.
