Irbid exports up 20% in June

AMMAN — Exports by the Irbid Chamber of Industry (ICI) amounted to $140 million last June, while it exported $116 million worth of goods in the same month of 2021, an increase of 20 percent, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

Al-Hassan Industrial Estate exported $131 million worth of goods, followed by Cyber City, with $6.7 million, while the remaining exports came from other industrial zones in the northern governorate, according to an ICI statement released Sunday.

The textile and leather sector maintained a leading position in the sector-based exports, with $130 million, followed by the foodstuffs products with $2.9 million, and the medical industries sector with $2.7 million, the statement added.

The US imported the biggest share of Irbid’s exports, or 73 percent of the total exports, followed by the EU and Arab countries; the remaining exports were distributed among Canada, Southeast Asia, and several other countries.

ICI Chairman Hani Abu Hassan said Irbid’s exports in the first half of 2022 went up by 33.7 percent, to JD675 million, compared to JD505 million in the same period of 2021.
