The Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department, Dr. Hussam Abu Ali, announced the completion of the selection process for income tax return samples submitted this year for the year 2024, using artificial intelligence technologies and global best practices for sample selection.

Abu Ali emphasized the Department’s commitment to continuing the application of international standards in selecting accepted tax return samples exactly as submitted by taxpayers, without any modifications, while adhering to the Department’s approved risk criteria.
He noted that as part of the ongoing development and modernization efforts of the Income and Sales Tax Department, and with the use of artificial intelligence, tax returns that are not subject to manual auditing will undergo electronic review through the AI-based system developed by the Department. This aims to ensure tax fairness and comprehensiveness in tax auditing, and to implement specialized and quality-driven audits for electronic filings.
The Department has made the results of the accepted income tax return samples available on its website through a query service under the “Accepted Returns” section at
www.istd.gov.jo. Taxpayers can enter their tax number to check whether their returns have been accepted.
