The Trump administration came up with the idea of making a very advanced defense system similar to the Iron Dome used by Israel, where the task was entrusted to a group of US companies specialized in defense, headed by Lockheed Martin, which proposed a comprehensive defense project called the Golden Dome at an approximate cost of 175 billion dollars, as President Trump wanted to involve neighboring Canada to protect it from any threat by charging part of the cost of 61 billion dollars or be exempted from this amount once it joined the United States to become one of its states .
What is the Golden Dome?
It is a planetarium over the territory of the United States that extends from the advanced base of the United States in the West in Alaska to the East at an advanced base that will be on the island of Greenland.
The golden dome will consist of four layers, one in space and three on the ground, which are integrated layers starting from a space sensing and targeting layer to warn and track missiles, in addition to missile defense, and three ground layers consisting of interceptors, radar systems and possibly lasers.
Therefore, it will be necessary to use both Greenland and Alaska to confront hypersonic missiles coming from Russia, China and North Korea and deal with them properly before reaching US territory or sensing them for a period that allows the defense systems on US territory to deal with them, whether those missiles are coming through the North Pole,or from the East or from the West.
The control of Greenland will enable the United States to control an important waterway connecting the East with the West, where it will control the passage of ships in days of peace, both warships and submarines, especially espionage ones, in addition to controlling oil and gas tankers and controlling the most important waterway under a comprehensive US plan to occupy world waterways such as Panama and others to become global logistics transportation under US control to control World Trade, especially oil and gas trade, to narrow down its most important competitor, China, in light of a burning trade war that will extend for years to come.
