Russia Says It Downed 77 Ukrainian Drones Overnight
Russia’s Ministry of Defense announced Sunday that its air-defense units destroyed 77 drones launched by Ukraine overnight, as both sides continue to exchange aerial attacks nearly four years into the war.اضافة اعلان

In a statement on Telegram, the ministry said the drones were intercepted over seven regions across southern and central Russia, as well as over Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014.

Yury Slyusar, governor of the Rostov region, said on Telegram that an electricity transmission tower was damaged in an area near the Ukrainian border, about 1,000 kilometers south of Moscow, cutting power to 250 residents. He noted that no injuries were reported.

According to the ministry, 42 drones were shot down over the Saratov region in southwestern Russia and 12 over Rostov.

Russian authorities rarely disclose the full extent of damage caused by Ukrainian aerial attacks and almost never confirm strikes on military infrastructure.

The conflict has increasingly involved long-range drone and missile attacks far from direct front lines, as each side targets the other’s military, logistical, and energy facilities.

Moscow has launched repeated drone and missile strikes on Ukraine’s power grid during previous winters and ahead of the current one, causing outages and placing heavy strain on repair teams amid dropping temperatures.

Meanwhile, Kyiv has intensified drone attacks on oil depots, airfields, and other targets inside Russia, calling them a legitimate response to Moscow’s campaign against Ukrainian cities and energy systems.
