Kyiv – At least 10 people were killed in Russian airstrikes targeting the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, and its surrounding areas on Monday, according to local authorities.
In Kyiv, at least nine people were killed and 46 others injured, Kyiv Military Administration chief Tymur Tkachenko said in a post on Telegram.
At least one additional fatality was reported in the town of Bucha, on the outskirts of Kyiv, according to Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.
Earlier, Ukrainian officials said the capital had come under a Russian missile attack in the early hours of Monday, adding that residents were trapped inside a heavily damaged building near the city center.
Witnesses reported a series of explosions across Kyiv and its surrounding areas, while Ukraine’s air defense systems were seen responding to Russian drone attacks.
