The Israeli occupation army launched strikes on southern Lebanon on Sunday morning, saying they came in response to Hezbollah launching two drones toward Israeli forces stationed in an area it described as a “security zone” in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli army spokesperson said Hezbollah had launched two drones earlier Sunday morning toward Israeli forces controlling what it called the “security zone” in southern Lebanon.
He added that Israeli forces fired at one of the drones and successfully intercepted it, noting that no injuries were reported among its ranks.
The Israeli army described the launch of the two drones as a “blatant violation” and said it was carrying out strikes in southern Lebanon in response.
Earlier, the Israeli occupation army issued a warning to residents of the southern Lebanese town of Arabsalim, ordering them to evacuate a building identified on an accompanying map, along with nearby buildings, and to stay at least 300 meters away from them.
It said the warning followed what it described as a “blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement” after a drone was launched toward its forces. The army claimed the targeted building was located near a facility belonging to Hezbollah that it intended to attack.
The army added that its forces would continue operations in the area it describes as a “security zone,” claiming the operations were aimed at removing any threat to its forces and Israelis.
The new Israeli strikes mark the second attack on southern Lebanon in less than 24 hours.
Hezbollah has not yet commented on the Israeli army’s announcement.
