The Arab League is holding an emergency meeting on Wednesday at the level of permanent representatives in an extraordinary session to discuss Arab and international measures in response to aggressive decisions by the Israeli occupation government. The session was convened at the request of the State of Palestine.

The meeting comes amid Israeli government measures aimed at expanding settlements, demolishing homes, seizing private and public lands, and transferring Hebron municipality powers to the so-called "Civil Administration" of the occupation authorities. These actions also threaten the status of the Ibrahimi Mosque (Cave of the Patriarchs). The decisions are seen as part of the ongoing comprehensive Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, their land, holy sites, and property, furthering policies of annexation and territorial expansion.
Palestine submitted an urgent request for an extraordinary session of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent representatives to explore Arab and international options to counter the recent aggressive Israeli measures.
The Israeli Cabinet approved a series of decisions on Sunday, proposed by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Defense Minister Israel Katz, which are expected to result in a fundamental change to the legal and civil reality in the occupied West Bank.
