According to a statistical report issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education on violations committed by Israeli occupation forces against Palestine’s education sector under the title “Three Years After the Genocide: Education Is a Will That Will Not Be Broken,” 134 school students and 39 university students have been martyred in the occupied West Bank. A further 871 school students and 283 university students have been injured, while 416 school students and 481 university students have been detained.

Among education and administrative personnel in Gaza, 805 school employees and 246 university lecturers and staff members have been martyred, while 3,298 school employees and 1,493 university workers have been injured.

In the West Bank, seven education personnel have been martyred and 26 others injured. Israeli occupation forces have also detained more than 176 teachers and school employees, as well as 21 university staff members.

Regarding attacks on educational institutions, the ministry said Israeli forces have completely destroyed more than 179 government schools in Gaza and bombed and destroyed more than 105 schools operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). More than 63 university buildings have also been completely destroyed.

In response to the destruction and as part of efforts to continue education, 700 educational and learning points have been established across Gaza, along with 12 virtual schools serving students from Gaza both inside and outside Palestine.

In the West Bank, Israeli occupation forces have continued targeting educational institutions. They issued a final order to demolish the Jinba School in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, and closed four schools in Hebron’s Old City for several days: Yasser Amro, Al-Fayhaa, Cordoba and Ibrahimiya schools.

Israeli authorities have also refused to issue permits to teachers working at private schools in occupied Jerusalem, obstructing their access to their workplaces. Israeli forces have continued raiding Palestinian universities, most recently Birzeit University.
