A total of 1,462 Israeli settlers entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Tuesday through the Moroccan Gate during the morning and afternoon entry periods, under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, on the fourth day of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot. Another 320 settlers entered under the pretext of tourism.
The Jerusalem Governorate said the settlers performed religious rituals in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa under Israeli police protection. It added that settlers assaulted Palestinians by beating and dragging them in the Bab Al-Amud area and posted footage documenting the attacks on their social media accounts.
The incursions came as Israeli authorities tightened military measures around Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City, imposing restrictions on worshippers’ access and movement.
The current month has seen repeated incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, the latest taking place Monday with the participation of 1,731 settlers.
According to figures from the Jerusalem Governorate, more than 40,661 settlers entered Al-Aqsa Mosque between the beginning of the year and the end of August 2026. The number of orders barring Jerusalem residents from entering the mosque reached around 800 from the beginning of the year through early September.
