Despite the decline of traditional voicemail services in phone calls, the feature has returned to WhatsApp as of last week.
The messaging service explained that when a voice call goes unanswered, the caller can leave a recorded voice message after hearing a beep. This message then appears within the chat between the two parties.

If the caller ends the conversation before the recipient answers and before reaching voicemail, WhatsApp now shows the missed call within the chat window, along with a button prompting the caller to leave a voice message to inform the other party of the reason for the call.
The update, which began rolling out globally last Thursday, also allows users to record a video message when attempting a video call.
WhatsApp initially tested the voicemail feature for voice calls in a limited capacity through the WhatsApp Beta Program in August.
