Bloomberg reported on Wednesday that Apple’s efforts to deliver an updated version of its voice assistant Siri are experiencing internal delays. Originally expected with the release of iOS 26.4, some features may now appear in iOS 26.5 or later releases this year.

The report appeared to negatively affect investor confidence, causing Apple’s stock to dip. However, technology correspondent Steve Kovach from CNBC confirmed that Apple stated it is still on track to launch the new Siri version this year, reaffirming its earlier public promises.
This does not contradict Bloomberg’s report regarding internal delays. Apple has not issued an official comment confirming or denying the claims.
The renewed commitment aligns with what Apple has publicly stated multiple times. Since last year, the company informed customers that the long-awaited Siri features, first announced at WWDC 2024, would be available sometime in 2026.
Expected Features:
Contextual understanding based on personal data
Support for in-app actions
Awareness of what appears on the user’s screen, allowing users to ask Siri questions about what they see and perform related contextual actions seamlessly
While 2026 remains the announced timeline, sources indicate Apple initially planned to launch these features with iOS 26.4. Bloomberg’s report revealed this schedule may not be met.
When finally released, these features will be Siri’s first to leverage Google’s Gemini AI models, following the partnership Apple and Google announced earlier this year.
Apple is expected to be even more ambitious with iOS 27, delivering a completely revamped Siri chat experience powered by the latest Gemini foundational models.
However, if initial features are delayed, iOS 27’s updates may also be postponed. In the fast-moving AI market, investor confidence hinges on Apple’s ability to keep pace.
