Basel sang songs by Fadl Shaker including “I’m Only With You,” by Melhem Barakat “On My Door Stand Two Moons,” by George Wassouf “We’ve Been Tired for Years in Your Love,” by Omar Al-Abdallat “The Flag of Our Country,” and by Samira Tawfiq “Big Shots of the Country.” He also performed a medley of Jordanian heritage songs. The audience warmly engaged with Basel’s enthusiastic singing, which filled the stands of the “Qanater” with joy and happiness.
For an hour and fifteen minutes, the “Takat Syrian Band,” with its distinctive tarab singing style, presented a collection of the most famous songs from the Levant region in their well-known style, keeping the audience engaged throughout their performance.
The band offered a mix of tarab and traditional songs from Syria, Jordan, and Palestine. Among their notable performances were: “Just Tell Me,” “Oh My Sorrow,” “Will You Come to Our Neighborhood,” segments of Mejana and Ataba, “Oh Reem of the Countryside,” “Please Pour the Coffee,” “Comb Your Hair,” “Tan Skin, O Proud Young Men,” “Lean, O Gazelle,” “They Feared God, Those Who Forgot Us,” “I Saw You, O Jaflah,” “Ride Close, O Motorbike,” and “Explain It to Her.” The band also performed Omar Al-Abdallat’s songs “The Beloved of Your Heart,” “The Days Passed,” and “O Saad” with a new musical style that preserved the spirit of the originals, ending the evening with the song “Mother of Love, Mother.”
At “Dar Hamza,” the popular bazaar and handicrafts exhibition at the “Al-Freihat Association” continued. Artist Yanal Al-Masri performed Oud variations at Dar Hamza, engaging the audience, who also enjoyed seasonal fruits.
