Verity, the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel starring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett, has emerged as one of the strongest new releases at the global box office after grossing $62.5 million during its opening weekend.

The figure gives the film the second-biggest global opening for an adaptation of a Colleen Hoover novel, behind It Ends With Us, which opened in 2024 with $95.6 million.
Verity outperforms other recent Colleen Hoover adaptations
The film not only posted a strong opening but also surpassed the earnings of several titles released around the same period.
Verity grossed about $62.5 million worldwide, ahead of Practical Magic 2, which earned $46 million. It also outperformed two other adaptations of Colleen Hoover works: Regretting You, which opened with $23.6 million, and Reminders of Him, which recorded $28.1 million.
The performance is particularly notable given the film’s net production budget of approximately $40 million, further strengthening Amazon MGM Studios’ presence in the market for films that attract female audiences.
Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson draw audiences
In the US market, Verity earned $32.6 million during its opening weekend, with women accounting for the majority of the audience at 78%.
At the same time, the film attracted a segment of male viewers and audiences who do not typically gravitate toward novel adaptations, indicating that its appeal has extended beyond its target demographic.
Verity tops several international markets
The film also performed strongly in a number of international markets, earning $4.5 million in the UK, $3.8 million in Brazil and $3.1 million in Australia, outperforming The Housemaid in all three countries.
It also topped the box office in several European markets, including Germany with $3.8 million, the Netherlands with $590,000, Portugal with $575,000 and Hungary with $318,000. It also led the box office in Norway, Türkiye, Ukraine, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, Argentina, Greece, Lithuania and Finland.
Verity’s earnings in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Arabmarkets
The film posted mixed results across other international markets, grossing $670,000 in the UAE and $535,000 in Saudi Arabia.
In Mexico, the film earned $1.5 million to rank second, while it also placed second in France with $1.7 million.
Verity additionally grossed around $500,000 in India, $825,000 in Spain, where it ranked fourth, and $760,000 in Italy, where it placed third.
Its earnings also included $370,000 in New Zealand, $240,000 in Poland, $238,000 in Colombia and $233,000 in the Philippines.
Verity heads into another box-office run
The film’s international release is expected to expand in the coming weeks, with releases planned in Taiwan and the Commonwealth of Independent States, followed by Slovakia and Vietnam.
The film will open in South Korea on October 22, 2026, before arriving in Japanese cinemas on November 6.
The Heart of the Beast maintains strong momentum
At the box office, Paramount’s The Heart of the Beast continued to post strong results, grossing $32.5 million during its second weekend.
Of that total, $21.5 million came from 66 markets outside the US, lifting the film’s worldwide gross to $98.7 million.
The film remained No. 1 in France for a second consecutive week, adding $3 million to bring its total there to $7.6 million.
It also topped the Mexican market with $2 million during the weekend, taking its cumulative gross in the country to $5.1 million.
The Heart of the Beast’s performance in international markets
In the UK, the film added $1.6 million to its earnings, bringing its total to $5.5 million. It earned $1.1 million each in Spain and Australia, taking its respective totals to $3.6 million and $3.3 million.
In Germany, The Heart of the Beast grossed $955,000 in its second week, an increase of 2%, bringing its total there to $2.3 million.
The film previously opened in China with $2.1 million, while it recorded $225,000 in Türkiye. It is scheduled to open in South Korean cinemas on October 29.
