Paramount CEO David Ellison announced that Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery will operate under the name Skydance following the completion of their merger.اضافة اعلان

The name Skydance comes from the original film production company founded by Ellison.

The deal, valued at around $110 billion, is expected to close on October 6. It will bring together two of Hollywood’s largest studios, along with Paramount+ and HBO Max, as well as networks including CBS, CNN, MTV, TBS, Comedy Central and Food Network.

Skydance will also control some of the entertainment industry’s best-known franchises and properties, including The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, the DC Universe and Yellowstone.

A deal preceded by a lengthy battle
The merger comes after a prolonged corporate battle. Netflix had previously agreed to acquire Warner Bros.’ streaming and studio operations before the broader Paramount deal moved forward.

Twelve US states also challenged the deal, arguing that it could reduce competition and harm consumers and workers.

However, a judge this week approved a settlement reached with the attorneys general of those states.

Ellison said the Paramount and Warner Bros. brands would remain at the heart of the new company’s identity.

Writing on X, he said the intention had never been for the new corporate identity to diminish, alter or overshadow either brand.

He added that the Skydance name would give the company “an identity of its own,” while allowing both Paramount and Warner Bros. to remain front and center.
