Her Majesty exchanged views with attendees about the nature of the activities and ways they could be further developed and modernized to better serve tourism and visitors from within Jordan and abroad.

Queen Rania and Princess Salma began their tour of Wadi Rum with a short journey aboard the Hejaz Railway (Arab Revolt Train). They listened to a briefing by Moayad Abu Rumman, Chief Executive Officer of the Jordan Heritage Revival Company, who explained that the train journey offers a unique experience, allowing visitors to travel back in time to 1916 and relive scenes inspired by events of the Great Arab Revolt.

He noted that the King Abdullah II Fund for Development established the Jordan Heritage Revival Company in 2010 with the aim of developing Jordan’s tourism sector. Among the experiences offered by the company in Wadi Rum are visits to the railway station, train rides, stargazing experiences, and four-wheel-drive desert tours.

Her Majesty and Princess Salma also used a specially equipped four-wheel-drive vehicle designed for driving on sand to reach the Wadi Rum tourist site, where they observed two climbers ascending one of Wadi Rum’s distinctive mountains.

Wadi Rum, located in southern Jordan, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most beautiful places on Earth. It is renowned for its desert landscapes and the opportunity to experience the lifestyle of the local community, and it has served as a filming location for several international films.
