The Treasury façade in the ancient city of Petra was illuminated in the colors of the Jordanian flag in celebration of the 79th Independence Day of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

This initiative reflects pride in the cherished national occasion and symbolizes patriotism and deep-rooted allegiance to the land and the Hashemite leadership. The Treasury was lit up in a festive atmosphere that highlighted both the significance of the occasion and the historic importance of the location.
Dr. Fares Breizat, Chief Commissioner of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority, stated that the event represents the strong connection of Petra’s people and the tourism sector to Jordan’s enduring national values. He emphasized that Petra, as one of Jordan’s and the world’s most iconic archaeological and tourist sites, celebrates this national milestone in unity with Jordanians, showcasing to the world a proud and united Jordan rooted in its heritage and looking toward the future.
Breizat added that while the Authority has decorated buildings and streets with the Jordanian flag, it is also organizing a series of national events and activities in the coming days in cooperation with local communities. These efforts aim to foster a spirit of loyalty and belonging while reinforcing Petra’s status as a symbol of national cultural and historical pride.
