The first phase of a project to beautify several sites in the heart of the commercial market in Aqaba has been launched, as part of efforts aimed at improving the urban landscape and enhancing the general environment in the city center, with broad participation from youth volunteer initiatives.

These activities were carried out through joint coordination between the Aqaba Governorate and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, in partnership with the “We” platform, one of the initiatives of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, and the “Leave a Trace” volunteer initiative, in addition to the staff of the service agencies and the cleaning company “Urbaser” operating in the city.
The first day of the project witnessed the implementation of a service campaign that included cleaning, sweeping and painting of curbs in a number of locations within the center of the commercial market, with the participation of volunteers from youth initiatives, as part of efforts that reflect the spirit of teamwork and promote a culture of social responsibility.
Dr. Mohammed Krishan, head of the “Leave a Trace” volunteer initiative, affirmed that the launch of this phase of the project represents an important step towards promoting a culture of volunteering and fieldwork in service of public facilities in the heart of the city, noting that the participation of young people reflects an advanced awareness of the importance of maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of public spaces.
Krishan added that these initiatives strengthen the partnership between the local community and official institutions, and contribute to supporting efforts aimed at improving the urban landscape in the heart of Aqaba's commercial district, stressing that work will continue in later phases to expand the scope of beautification to include additional locations.
At the conclusion of the event, the project organizers expressed their appreciation for the efforts of all supporting entities and participating volunteers, emphasizing that collaborative work between official institutions and youth initiatives forms the basis for showcasing the civilized image of Aqaba and enhancing its appeal.
