SOLVillion Co, and EcoPeace Middle East are two Jordanian sustainable initiatives in the field of greentech, and renewable energy.

An Austrian Embassy statement on Monday said its Commercial Counselor Herwig Neuper, Ambassador Oskar Wustinger, and Representative of the UN Industrial Development Organization Sulafa Mdanat handed the awards to the winners.

They were namely Aia Abul-Haj, SOLVillion’s business development manager, and Yana Abu Taleb, director of EcoPeace Middle East in Jordan, the local implementing partner of Global Nature Fund.

SOLVillion won the award with its project of a decentralized wastewater treatment system for rural areas in Jordan, while EcoPeace for a decentralized solar energy supply for a wastewater treatment plant in the Jordan Valley.

The most important companies, organizations and known personalities in the field of environment and energy in Jordan were present at the event, which took place at the Austrian envoy’s residence in Amman.

With more than 180 participating countries, the Energy Globe Award is the most prestigious environmental award worldwide, founded by the Energy Globe Foundation in Austria 22 years ago, the statement said.

Committed people worldwide develop solutions for the most pressing environmental problems of our time, like resource scarcity, air and water pollution, erosion, climate change or dependence on fossil fuels, it added.

Although these solutions are readily available, they often remain unheard of. To that end, Energy Globe gives them a voice and presents them to a large audience to make them visible and encourage others to come up with their own innovative solution.
