Wholesale price index up 5.66 in Q1 of 2022

AMMAN — The wholesale price index in the first quarter of 2022 increased by 5.66 percent, reaching 102.64 points against 97.14 during the same period of 2021, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.اضافة اعلان

According to the Department of Statistics' quarterly report issued Sunday, the rise was mainly driven by the increase in the group price of fuel, minerals, and construction materials by 14.23 percent or 2.91 points, group price of agricultural raw materials, grains, food, beverages, and tobacco by 3.54 percent or 1.36 points, as well as group price of motor vehicles, motorcycles, and car parts by 2.94 percent or 0.57 points.

Moreover, the boost in the group price of machine trade and their supplies by 5.33 percent or 0.49 points played a significant role in the index increase, in addition to the group price of textiles, clothing, personal and household goods going up by 3.00 percent or 0.32 percent.

The wholesale price index in the first quarter of 2022 went up by 2.08 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2021, the report noted.

The base year was changed from 1998 to 2010. Data is collected through samples from 330 institutions, of which the prices of 1,590 products are documented.
