The White House announced that U.S. President Donald Trump has lifted the 40% tariffs on Brazilian food products.

According to a statement released Thursday evening, Trump signed an executive order adjusting the scope of tariffs previously imposed on Brazil.اضافة اعلان

The decision removes the 40% import duties on items including beef, coffee, cocoa, and fruits, which had been imposed in July.

The tariffs were originally enacted in response to the trial of Brazil’s former president Jair Bolsonaro, whom Trump described as a “friend.”

Observers note that the reversal marks a shift in U.S. tariff policy, which had increased food prices domestically, while Brazil supplies roughly one-third of U.S. coffee consumption and is a key beef exporter for burgers.
