QAIA sees passenger traffic growing 161% in January

AMMAN –– Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) received 395,897 passengers in January, recording a 161.3 percent growth in passenger traffic, compared to the same period last year, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

Aircraft movement grew to 4,630 in January, or by 127.2 percent over the same period last year, according to the statistics announced Tuesday by Airport International Group (AIG).

Air freight traffic reached 4,048 tons in January, 13.6 per cent up from the same period in 2021, the figures showed.

Passenger and aircraft movement and air cargo traffic at QAIA remained far lower than pre-pandemic levels despite the improvement over the 2021 statistics, said AIG CEO Nicolas Claude who expressed hope that the sector will be able to regain travelers' confidence in safe air travel as COVID-19 restrictions have been relaxed worldwide.

Claude said that AIG looks forward to assessing the impact of eased regulations on movement throughout 2022.
