The decision was made by the Petroleum Products Pricing Committee following government directives, with the new prices taking effect on September 1.

Under the decision, 90-octane gasoline will remain at 1,000 fils per liter, 95-octane gasoline at 1,310 fils per liter, diesel at 850 fils per liter and kerosene at 550 fils per liter.

The committee also decided to keep the price of a 12.5-kilogram household LPG cylinder at JD 7.

The government will continue subsidizing liquefied petroleum gas allocated to the industrial sector, with support amounting to up to JD 1.6 million for September.

Global markets recorded higher average prices for crude oil and petroleum products during August, particularly diesel and kerosene, amid continued geopolitical tensions in the region.

Jordan’s domestic petroleum pricing system is based on the monthly average of global prices during the 30 days preceding the pricing date.

However, the government has continued to absorb a significant portion of the increase in global petroleum costs since the beginning of the crisis, rather than passing the full increase on to domestic consumers, in an effort to limit its impact on citizens and economic sectors.

The committee said cumulative price differences absorbed by the Treasury as a result of the gradual pricing policy and the decision not to fully reflect actual global prices in monthly domestic pricing reached approximately JD 224 million from the beginning of the crisis through the end of August, including support for household LPG cylinders.

The government said the decision to maintain September prices reflects its efforts to limit fluctuations in domestic fuel prices and provide greater stability for citizens and economic sectors.

The committee will continue to assess developments in global energy markets and their impact on domestic costs on a monthly basis, taking into account price movements and geopolitical conditions, with the aim of balancing consumer and economic-sector protection with economic and fiscal stability.
