Senator Khalil Al-Hajj Tawfiq, Chairman of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Commerce and board member of the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), held a meeting with Rita Massoud, Secretary General of the ABCC, to discuss a joint work program focused on expanding economic cooperation between Jordan and the United Kingdom, boosting the presence of Jordanian companies in the British market, and attracting more British investments to Jordan.

According to a statement issued by the chamber on Sunday, Al-Hajj Tawfiq stressed that the upcoming phase requires shifting from successful meetings to execution. This will be achieved through an institutional work program that identifies priorities, connects Jordanian and British businesses, and converts opportunities into actionable partnerships, investments, and projects.
He pointed out that the ABCC, with its extensive expertise and network across business institutions in the UK and the Arab world, serves as a strategic partner in supporting Jordan’s private sector efforts. It achieves this by providing reliable market and investment data, and facilitating networking between Jordanian and British business leaders to unlock new trade and investment horizons.
Al-Hajj Tawfiq added that the proposed work program will prioritize key sectors, notably information technology, tourism, engineering and consulting services, logistics, halal products, creative industries, pharmaceuticals, and food manufacturing. It will also focus on leveraging Jordanian expertise in Syria's reconstruction projects and enhancing Jordan’s position as a regional hub for British businesses operating in the Arab region.
Furthermore, Al-Hajj Tawfiq confirmed an agreement to begin drafting a joint work program. This includes assessing the British market’s demand for Jordanian goods and services and identifying products with a competitive edge to boost national exports. Simultaneously, the initiative aims to encourage British companies to capitalize on Jordan’s favorable investment climate, strategic location, and free trade agreements, which offer access to numerous regional and global markets.
He also highlighted the importance of broadening human resource development cooperation by enhancing training and qualification programs, providing British internship and training opportunities for Jordanian youth, and exchanging labor market data on required skill sets to better position Jordanian talent for available opportunities.
For her part, Rita Massoud affirmed the ABCC’s commitment to ongoing collaboration with the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Commerce. She reiterated plans to implement a joint program targeting high-growth sectors, strengthening business-to-business networking, providing trade intelligence, organizing specialized B2B meetings and trade missions, and helping companies forge sustainable economic partnerships.
