According to the study and field inspections of markets, shops, and malls, the prices of 30 items dropped, most notably for slaughtered and fresh chicken, certain types of meat, vegetables, and fruits. The declines ranged between 2%—as in local veal meat—and 32%—as in imported lemons.

Prices of 53 items remained stable, including key staples such as sugar, rice, oils, and dairy products.

Based on the study results, prices of 7 items recorded increases, including table eggs and some types of vegetables, with rates varying between 4% (eggs) and 12% (garlic).

The ministry’s spokesperson, Yanal Al-Barmawi, stated that the Ministry continuously monitors price fluctuations locally, tracking increases and decreases and their links to global market trends, noting that Jordan imports a large portion of its food needs, while maintaining sufficient local supply for others.

He added that prices of several food items—especially vegetables and fruits—are expected to decline further in the coming period due to strong local production, falling global prices, and stable maritime shipping costs.

Al-Barmawi also pointed out that chicken prices have witnessed a significant decrease compared to their levels in recent years.
