According to China’s state news agency Xinhua, Xi said, “The situation in the Gulf region stands at a crossroads between war and peace, and there is an urgent need to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire.”

He added, “Resuming military operations would be inappropriate, and continuing negotiations is more important than ever.”

Xi emphasized that “negotiations are of critical importance and the fighting must stop,” noting that ending the war would help reduce disruptions to energy supplies and the international trading system.*
