U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters that India will purchase Venezuelan oil instead of Iranian oil.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One while traveling from Washington to Florida, Trump said, “We’ve already reached an agreement on this matter, or rather, a concept of an agreement.”

He added that China is also welcome to reach an agreement with the United States to purchase Venezuelan oil.
Trump’s remarks came a day after the U.S. informed New Delhi that it could soon resume buying Venezuelan oil to help offset Russian oil imports, according to three informed sources.
The U.S. efforts to supply India with Venezuelan crude aim to reduce Russia’s oil revenues, which contribute to funding its war in Ukraine.
Last March, Trump had imposed a 25% tariff on countries importing Venezuelan oil, including India.
