U.S. President Donald Trump said that Denmark has been unable to do anything to keep the “Russian threat” away from Greenland, adding: “The time for that has come now, and it will be done.”

Trump has repeatedly insisted that he will accept nothing less than U.S. ownership of Greenland, an autonomous territory belonging to Denmark. Meanwhile, leaders in both Denmark and Greenland maintain that the island is not for sale and that there is no desire for it to become part of the United States.
