"The calm before the storm," Trump wrote on the platform, accompanying the post with an image of himself set against a backdrop of a massive storm, warships, and the Iranian flag fading into the background.
The United States suspended its military strikes on Iran last month but has since initiated a naval blockade on Iranian ports. In response, Tehran stated it would not reopen the Strait of Hormuz until the U.S. lifts the blockade. Trump has threatened to strike Iran again if a deal is not reached.
On Friday, Trump stated, "We don’t want them to have a nuclear weapon; we want the strait open."
Tehran maintains that it has no intention of manufacturing nuclear weapons, though it refuses to halt its nuclear research or surrender its stockpile of enriched uranium.
In an interview aired Thursday on Fox News' Hannity, Trump warned that his patience with Iran is running thin, asserting that Tehran "must make a deal."
