Axios reported on Wednesday that U.S. President Donald Trump is set to receive a briefing from Brad Cooper, head of United States Central Command, regarding new plans for potential military action against Iran.

According to the report, which cited unnamed sources, the briefing is expected to take place on Thursday. The White House has not immediately commented.
The outlet added that U.S. Central Command has prepared a plan to launch a series of “short and sharp” strikes on Iran, likely targeting infrastructure.
The report noted that Washington hopes to make Iran more flexible at the negotiating table regarding the nuclear issue.
Another plan expected to be presented to Trump focuses on taking control of part of the Strait of Hormuz to reopen it to commercial shipping, potentially involving ground forces.
The report also indicated that another option could involve special forces conducting an operation to secure Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium.
Additionally, Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is expected to attend the briefing on Thursday.
