Lavrov: Iran Has the Right to Enrich Uranium for Peaceful Purposes
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed on Monday that Iran has every right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes.

"The fundamental principle is that Iran, like any other state party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), has the full right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes," Lavrov said during a press conference.اضافة اعلان

Speaking following talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Equatorial Guinea, Simeon Oyono Esono Angue, he added: "We are not trying to interfere in this negotiation process. We wish it success."

He continued: "We will support any solution that is agreed upon and accepted by the negotiating parties—by the United States and Iran."

Lavrov also stated: "This facility (the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant) has never been subject to any sanctions. It was excluded from the 2015 agreement on the Iranian nuclear program. This matter concerns no one but the Russian Federation and Iran."

He explained that the project is currently underway, with additional power units being constructed, and personnel are returning upon completion.

Current circulating data indicates that a potential agreement between Washington and Tehran could take the form of a preliminary memorandum of understanding. This would include a temporary halt to uranium enrichment in exchange for a gradual lifting of sanctions, alongside arrangements regarding freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. However, several core issues remain under negotiation, including the duration of the enrichment suspension and verification mechanisms.
